AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Three Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball players have been named to the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference All-Conference team.
Junior Academic All-OAC right side hitter Alexis Garrett (Mentor) and junior setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) earn their first All-Conference awards this season. Junior middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) garners her second career All-OAC award.
Garret, who was named the OAC Offensive Player of the Week on October 28, landed on the All-OAC first-team after setting career-highs in sets played(81) and kills(222). The mentor native marked a match-high of 17 kills on two separate occasions, and her 222 kills was good for third on the team. In her career Garrett has 452 kills, 73 blocks, 87 digs and 33 service aces in 209 sets.
Egan was tabbed an honorable mention selection after a season that saw her eclipse 2,000 career assists. The Cleveland native currently sits at No. 6 on BW's all-time career assists list with 2,515 after she distributed 1,034 assists this year, good enough for second in the conference. Egan set match-highs in assists(59), service aces(7), and digs(19) this season and has accumulated 136 kills, 99 service aces, 577 digs, and 54 blocks in 304 sets in her career.
Brown, who was named the OAC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, earned an honorable mention spot. Brown finished fifth in the OAC with a hitting percentage of .327 and also set match-highs in kills(22), blocks(8), digs(11) and service aces(3). For her career, Brown has amassed 547 kills, 170 blocks, 140 digs, and 41 service aces in 245 sets.
BW concluded the regular season with an overall record of 23-6 and an OAC mark of 5-4. The Yellow Jackets defeated fourth-seeeded Heidelberg University 3-1 in the OAC Tournament Quarterfinals before falling to one-seeded Ohio Northern University, 1-3 in the OAC Semifinals.
