BEREA, Ohio -- As the COVID 19 pandemic continues to affect the nation and the world, the Baldwin Wallace University Athletic Department and women's golf team want to take the time to recognize the hard work and dedication of its three senior student-athletes.
Hannah Durst, Emily Hunt and Anna Schatschneider saw their final season come to an abrupt end on March 12 when the Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA canceled the remainder of the spring season. With the cancelation, these three young women did not get a chance to get a Seniors' Day recognition or the chance to play in the OAC Championships.
While the NCAA has extended another year of eligibility, it is uncertain if each of these student-athlete will come back for another season or continue down their career path. So, the University administration, faculty and staff congratulates these three young women on their outstanding athletic and academic careers as well as their leadership to the women's golf program. The University would like to wish each of them all the best of luck in their future endeavors and hope that even after graduation that they come back and visit us often. They will always be a Yellow Jacket for Life (YJ4L).
Durst is a biology major from Madison, Ohio and a graduate of Madison High School. She will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring. Durst has appeared in 32 invitationals and 47 rounds. She had a career stroke average of 105.36. Durst fired a career-low round of 94 in the final invitational of the 2019-20 season at the Webber International (Fla.) University Invitational on March 10. She is the daughter of Donald and Nicole Durst.
Hunt is a health coaching and promotion major from Marysville, Ohio and a graduate of Marysville High School. She is a two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer that will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring. Hunt has appeared in 39 career invitationals and 53 rounds. She had a career stroke average of 97.40. She carded a career-low round of 86 at the BW Fall Invitational on September 1, 2019. Off the course, Hunt is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Honor Society. She is the daughter of Joe and Amy Hunt.
Schatschneider is a health and physical education major from Avon, Ohio and a graduate of Avon High School. She is an All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC performer that will earn her second varsity letters this spring. Schatschneider, who transferred from Ashland University, has appeared in 11.5 career invitationals and 19 rounds. She had a career stroke average of 85.89. Schatschneider has led the team in stroke average for the past two seasons and her 87.46 average in 2018-19 ranks 22nd all-time in school history. She is a two-time OAC Women's Golfer of the Week and two-time Medalist. Schatschneider fired a career-low round of 78 at the University of Mount Union Fall Invitational on September 8, 2019. Off the course, she is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Schatschneider is the daughter of Harold and Karen Schatschneider.
