ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field teams competed in the unscored Raider Tune Up, hosted by the University of Mount Union inside the McPherson Academic & Athletic Complex.
For the fourth meet of the season, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) won the weight throw event, this time with a mark of 60 feet, 2 inches. Senior Academic All-OAC thrower Milton Woods (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) finished fifth in the same event with a toss of 49'11". In the shot put, junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) was the runner-up when he hit 49'11.25" while Dysert also posted a career-high tying mark of 48'1.25" for a fifth-place finish. Staying in the field, sophomore jumper/sprinter Alex Dempsey (Madison) took third in the long jump when he leaped 21'3.5".
On the track, sophomore All-OAC distance runner Josh Hickmott (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) won the 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:04.33 and fellow sophomore distance runner Spencer Roberts (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) placed fourth in the same event in 9:21.68.
Freshman distance runner Joe Juda (Strongsville) posted career-best times in two separate events, finishing second in the 1,000-meter run in 2:42.34 and third in the 1-mile run in 4:31.59. Career bests also came from freshman distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.) and senior distance runner Spencer Mahon (North Royalton). Prather brought home third place in the 500-meter dash in 1:11.31 and Mahon was the runner-up in the 5,000-meter run in 15:56.75. Sophomore distance runner Jose Reynoso (Painesville/Harvey) was right behind Mahon in the 5,000, crossing the finish line in third place in a time of 16:05.33.
BW will next compete on Friday, Feb. 22, on the first day of the 2019 OAC Indoor Championships, hosted by Ohio Northern University inside the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.
