Men’s Golf Team Wins Cuyahoga River Battle

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team won the two-day Cuyahoga River Battle hosted by the John Carroll University at the Shaker Heights Golf Club.

BW finished first of three teams with a final score of 649 and the BW "B" team finished with a team score of 700.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Scott Schroeder (Aurora) as he earned his fifth career medalist honor and second of the spring. He shot rounds of 77 and 74 for a combined team-best score of 151.

In addition to Schroeder, freshman Ben Ladaika (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) fired rounds of 79 and 84 for a total of 163, freshman Jimmy Clark (North Olmsted) carded two rounds of 82 for a total score of 164, senior Matt Kershner (Independence) recorded scores of 86 and 85 for a combined score of 171, and sophomore Brad Blaine (Brooklyn) closed out the top-five with rounds of 89 and 97 for a total of 186.

On the "B" team, senior Weston Lucas (Strongsville/Christian Community School) and sophomore Hunter Miller (Frankfort/Adena) led the way. Lucas shot rounds of 93 and 77 for a final score of 170 and Miller carded rounds of 84 and 87 for a total of 171. Also competing on the second Yellow Jackets team was sophomore Jack Kyle (Bay Village / Bay) who recorded scores of 83 and 94 for a final of 177, sophomore Adam Morris (Grafton/Midview) fired rounds of 99 and 93 for a total of 192 and junior Tommy Glenn (Avon) carded rounds of 124 and 114 for a combined score of 238.

As an individual, sophomore Brayton Thornburg (Columbus, Ind./North) earned a day-one score of 100 and a day-two score of 95 for a total of 195.

BW is back in action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday April 28-30 when it travels to West Lafayette for the three-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Muskingum University at the River Greens Golf Course. The action begins on Friday at 10 a.m.
