Jim Hilvert has elevated the Baldwin Wallace University football program back into the elite of Division III in just his first two seasons. But, then again, success and building championship teams is nothing new for Hilvert.

As Hilvert enters his third season as the Head Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator at BW, the Yellow Jackets are ready to battle for the presigious Ohio Athletic Conference title and to return to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.  He enters his 11th overall season as a Div. III head coach and he has a career collegiate coaching record of 81-25 with an outstanding .764 winning percentage. Hilvert, who was named the fourth head football coach at BW since 1957 on January 17, 2017, led the Yellow Jackets to a 6-4 mark in his inaugural season.

Hilvert came to BW after serving as the head football coach at powerhouse Cincinnati La Salle High School in 2015 and 2016. At Cincinnati La Salle, he led his team to back-to-back Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division II State Championships.  He had a record of 26-4 and an .867 winning percentage.  Combining his collegiate and high school marks, Hilvert is 107-29 with an excellent .787 winning percentage.

Prior to coaching at La Salle H.S., Hilvert served as the head football coach at Thomas More College from 2007-2015. He amassed a 67-19 record with a .779 winning percentage, which at the time made him of one of the winningest active coaches in the NCAA. Thomas More appeared in four straight NCAA Division III National Playoffs from 2008-2011 and won six President's Athletic Conference (PAC) titles.

Prior to Thomas More, Hilvert was an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at the College of Mount St. Joseph (now Mount St. Joseph University) in Cincinnati.

Hilvert earned a bachelor of science in political science from Saint Joseph’s College in Indiana in 1993 and a master’s degree in sports administration from Western Michigan University in 1997.

Hilvert and his wife Jennifer have three children.
