Twelve Football Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-OAC Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Twelve Baldwin Wallace University football student-athletes have been selected to the 2017 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Senior offensive lineman Andrew Sierawski (Delaware/Hayes), junior linebacker Dane Eberle (Erie, Pa./McDowell), junior defensive back Andrew Groves (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls), junior linebacker Zach Poudrier (Penfield, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit), sophomore defensive back Kyle Kelly (Wadsworth/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary), sophomore tight end Pat Orsini (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East), sophomore wide receiver Schnyder Boucard (Grayson, Ga.), sophomore linebacker Ajha Dean-Phillips (Bedford Heights/Bedford), sophomore quarterback A.J. Miller (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Springs Charter), sophomore offensive lineman Kyle Ray (Fairfield/Hamilton Badin), sophomore offensive lineman Ryan Sympson (North Lima/South Range) and sophomore punter Jacob Vickers (Northwood) are 12 of the 40 fall student-athletes to be recognized.

Sierawski, who earns his third-straight Academic All-OAC honor, is a mathematics major who carries a 3.54 GPA. He is also an Academic All-OAC honoree as a three-year letterwinner on the wrestling team. Sierawski is a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American, a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. For his career, he appeared in 30 games on the offensive line with two tackles.

Eberle, who garners his second-straight Academic All-OAC accolade, is an athletic training and pre-physical training double major who carries a 3.631 GPA. A Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar, Eberle has appeared in 16 games at linebacker and long snapper and has tallied six tackles.

Groves, who earns his second-straight Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting and finance double major who carries a 3.71 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Honor Society. For his career, Groves has appeared in 18 games and has 42 tackles, four pass break ups, one sack and one interception.

Poudrier, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a sport management major who carries a 3.54 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Sport Management Club. For his career, Poudrier has appeared in 13 games and has 46 tackles.

Kelly, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a perfect 4.0 GPA. A Dean's List student, Kelly has appeared in 11 games in his career and has tallied 47 tackles and three pass break ups.

Orsini, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.97 GPA. He is a Dean's List student. For his career, Orsini has appeared in nine games and has four receptions for 60 yards and two touchdowns.

Boucard, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a pre-physical therapy and exercise science double major who carries a 3.51 GPA. He is a Dean's List student.

Dean-Phillips, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a digital media and design major who carries a 3.56 GPA. For his career, Dean-Phillips has appeared in six games and has three tackles. 

Miller, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a national security and political science double major who carries a 3.93 GPA. He is a Dean's List student.

Ray, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a computer science major who carries a 3.73 GPA and is a Dean's List student.

Sympson, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a biology major who carries a 3.79 GPA. A Dean's List student, Sympson has appeared in 12 games on the offensive line.

Vickers, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a criminal justice major who carries a 3.62 GPA. He is a Dean's List student.
