Today's Game -- The Baldwin Wallace University football team remains on the the road when it travels to Wilmington for an Ohio Athletic Conference game against Wilmington College. BW rallied for a come from behind 40-33 victory at Marietta last Saturday. Wilmington was shut out by No. 6-nationally ranked John Carroll University by a final score of 69-0.
Series Notes -- The Yellow Jackets and Quakers have met 16 times on the gridiron with BW holding an 12-3 series lead, including five straight victories. During that span, the Yellow Jackets have outscored Wilmington, 244-38, including 54-7 last season. The series began in 1922 with the Quakers defeating BW, 16-7. The last Wilmington win came in 2008 when it beat the Yellow Jackets, 27-21.
Last Meeting -- The last time the Yellow Jackets and the Quakers met on October 19, 2014, BW defeated Wilmington by a final score 54-7. The Yellow Jackets outgained the Quakers, 385-220, in total yards.
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week five of the season, BW scored 40 points on 255 yards rushing, 93 yards passing and 348 total yards. Marietta scored 33 points on 162 yards rushing, 250 yards passing and 412 total yards.
Yellow Jacket Statistical Leaders
Offensively, junior quarterback Tyler Moeglin (Canton/St. Thomas Aquinas) has completed 69 of 115 passes for 791 yards with seven touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also rushed for 311 yards on 63 attempts with four TDs. Junior running back Issac Reed III (Lehigh Acres, Fla./Lehigh) leads the team in rushing with 441 yards on 86 attempts with three TDs. Senior wide receiver Kyle Dunne (Rocky River) leads the receiving corps with 21 catches for 291 yards and three TDs. Senior Michael Slack (Casselberry, Fla./Pine Castle Christian) is second with 15 catches for 179 yards and two TDs. Junior wide receiver Mike Waggoner (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) has nine catches for 117 yards.
Defensively, senior linebacker Dan O'Brien (Warren/Howland) leads the team with 44 tackles, including a career-best 15 stops last week. He has also added a safety, pass break up and a QB hurry. Junior linebacker Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) is second with 38 tackles and has 1.5 QB sacks and one fumble recovery. Senior defensive back Austin Cordova (Perry) is third with 36 tackles. Senior defensive lineman Luke Riemenschneider (Rocky River), who is the OAC Defensive Player of the Week, is fourth with 34 tackles. Riemenschneider leds the team with two fumble recoveries and has one interception.
Scouting The Quakers
In week five of the season, Wilmington scored zero points on 93 yards rushing, 87 yards passing and 180 total yards. John Carroll scored 69 points on 178 yards rushing, 414 yards passing and 592 total yards.
Quaker Statistical Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Austin Jarbo has completed completed 50 of 99 passes for 509 yards with six TDs and five interceptions. He also has rushed for 335 yards on 82 attempts. Sophomore running back Chase Manica leads the team in rushing with 487 yards on 100 attempts with for TDs. Junior wide recever Justin Lee, who also may play QB, leads the receiving corps with 22 catches for 249 yards with three TDs. Junior All-OAC wideout Jeremy Duncan is second with 12 grabs for 195 yards and two scores. Senior tight end Matt Stooksbury is third with eight catches for 71 yards and a TD.
Defensively, junior linebacker Nick Williams leads the team with 57 tackles, including twp for loss and 1.5 QB sacks. Junior defensive back Cody Reigelsperger is second with 34 stops. Sophomore linebacker David Henry is third with 32 tackles and he has 0.5 QB sacks and one fumble recovery. Junior linebacker Tarrell Starckey is fourth with 28 stops and has one sack and one fumble recovery.
