BEREA, OHIO -- Two Baldwin-Wallace College football players junior football linebacker J.J. Laseak (Mentor) and senior football placekicker Brad Pollock (Brecksville/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights), were chosen today (Monday, September 13, 2010) as Ohio Athletic Conference players-of-the-week for their efforts during the Week of September 6-12.
Laseak is the OAC Defensive Player of the Week for his 12-tackle effort that also earned him the Dick Miller B-W Family & Community Night Player of the Game Award in a 10-7 victory against Capital University last Saturday. In addition, Laseak had 1.5 tackles for loss, a quarterback sack and a fumble recovery. He also played a key role in two goal line stand stops of the Crusaders. He leads the Yellow Jackets with 20 total tackles.
Pollock is this week's OAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts versus Capital, and it marks the second time in his career that he has earned the honor. Against Capital, Pollock made his only field goal -- a 19-yarder, and his only point-after-touchdown (PAT) kick. This season, he is a perfect 2-of-2 in field goals, including a career-long 37-yarder in a 38-14 win versus The College of Wooster on Sept. 2 and a perfect 6-of-6 in PAT kicks. Pollock's 12 total points ties him with sophomore wide receiver Brett Jensen (Avon) for the team scoring lead.
The Yellow Jacket football team, 2-0 overall and listed among the 'others' in this week's d3football.com (www.d3football.com) Division III National poll, are back in action this Saturday, Sept. 18 when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to play OAC-rival Heidelberg University on Mayer Field on the Heidelberg campus at 2:00 p.m.
