BW's Chontos Named Preseason All-American

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference first baseman Kyle Chontos (Pickerington/North) has been named to the preseason All-America team as an honorable mention selection.

Last season, Chontos was named first-team All-OAC, first-team ABCA/Rawlings All-Mideast Region, second-team American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-American, second-team All-Mideast Region, honorable mention All-American and to the Mid-Atlantic Regional all-tournament team. He

On the field a year ago, Chontos appeared and started in all 50 games.  He batted .370 (74-for-200) with a school-record 19 doubles, one triple, five homeruns and a team leading and career-high 50 runs-batted-in.  Chontos walked 23 times and had 13 stolen bases and career-best 404 putouts.

For his career, Chontos is batting .345 (167-for-484) with 42 doubles, three triples, 10 homeruns, 117 RBI, 70 walks, 30 stolen bases and 953 putouts

The Yellow Jackets open the 2015 season on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1 when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky for three non-conference games all to be played on the campus of Spalding University. BW first plays Lawrence (Wis.) University on Saturday at 3 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets then face Dominican (Ill.) University and Spalding on Sunday at 2 and 5 p.m., respectively.
