BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University Sports and Media Information Director Jeff Miller '96 has announced that Christian Wirtz will join the Office of Athletic Communications as an Athletic Communications Assistant for the 2019-20 season and will begin his duties on August 5.
Wirtz will serve as the primary contact for the Yellow Jacket men's and women's cross country, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's track and field and women's basketball teams. He will also assist with the other 14 varsity sports.
The South Bend, Indiana native comes to Berea after earning a Bachelor of Arts in rhetoric from Wabash College.
"First and foremost, I want to thank everyone at Baldwin Wallace for this wonderful opportunity to work at an academic institution of such high standard and esteem," said Wirtz. "I value the principles of a liberal arts education, small classes, and a tight-knit campus community I have seen at Baldwin Wallace. I'm very excited to join the community of faculty, coaches, and, of course, students."
While at Wabash, Wirtz worked in the Office of Sports Information for four years, working closely with the soccer, basketball, baseball and men's lacrosse programs. He served as a commentator and producer of broadcasts with Wabash athletics in addition to his work as a camera and graphics operator for their football program. Wirtz was also an administrator for the athletics website as well as a scoreboard operator. Outside of sports, Wirtz was the treasurer of the Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honors Society and was also a volunteer youth soccer coach.
He is an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
