Kapusta, Women’s Golfers First at Purple Raider Classic
ALLIANCE, OHIO – Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC student-athlete Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) led a field of 46 golfers and the two-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team finished first of eight teams at the University of Mount Union Purple Raider Classic at the par-72 and 5,945-yard Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance, Ohio.
The tournament was originally a two day and 36-hole tournament, but due to weather conflicts it was broken into two separate 18-hole tournaments. Yesterday the Yellow Jackets placed second of nine teams in the Mount Union Spring Invitational, shooting a total of 336 strokes.
BW shot an 18-hole total of 330 strokes today. Each team has five golfers in its starting lineup with the top four scores counting toward the team total.
Kapusta led the Yellow Jackets by firing a 79 to lead the field.
In addition, senior All-OAC, Academic All-OAC and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) carded an 81 to finish second. All-OAC junior Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) and junior Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) shot 83 and 87, respectively. Freshman Sabre Adkins (Dublin/ Coffman) rounded out the starting lineup by shooting 97.
Competing individually, freshman Laura Vidmar (Willoughby/ South) shot a 91 strokes and senior Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) shot 103.
BW is back in action on , Saturday April 13 in the first day of the Laura Bump Invitational at the Mill Creek Golf Course in Ostrander Ohio.
