BW Men’s Lacrosse Loses at Saint Vincent (Pa.)

LATROBE, Pebnnsylvania – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team lost Saint Vincent (Pa.) College, 11-4, in a non-league game.
The Yellow Jackets, 4-3 overall, had four student-athletes, freshmen midfielders Alex Fioritto (Akron/ Walsh Jesuit), Tanner Roberts (Murraysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) and Jake Rakich (Dublin/ Olentangy Libert) and freshmen attack Devon Henry (Avon Lake) each scored a goal. Saint Vincent, now 2-7 overall, was led by Bryce Pasquariello with three goals.

Saint Vincent jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 13:25 of the first period before a Rakich goal tied it 1-1 at 8:42. The Bearcats led 2-1 after one period. In the second stanza, SVC scored two more goals to lead 4-1 at the intermission.

In the third quarter, the Bearcats scored the first two goal to take a 6-1 lead before BW got goals from Fioritto at 10:05 and Roberts at 9:16 to make it 6-3, but that was as close as the Yellow Jackets would get to the home team. In the final period, SVC increased its advantage to 11-3 before Henry tallied the final goal of the game.
In goal, sophomore Jake Harders (Rocky River/St. Edward) started, played all 60 minutes, faced 38 shots, including 23 on-goal, allowed 11 goals and made 12 saves as his record dropped to 4-3 overall.
The Bearcats outshot the Yellow Jackets, 38-29, and SVC had a 48-40 advantage in ground balls.
BW is back in action this Saturday, April 5 when it travels to Grand Rapids, Michigan to play Calvin College in a non-conference game at 4:00 p.m. The next home game is on Wednesday, April 16 when BW hosts Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
